Just over an hour ago The Abejas Library Construction Project was officially funded on Kickstarter!! WOO HOO!! A million thanks to EVERYBODY who helped make this possible. All of the Abejas are thrilled to have a new library coming their way!!
This is the last week to donate to the Abejas Youth Literacy Program Kickstarter project! The project link will only be available until Saturday August 30th and the project will only be funded if the Abejas reach their goal of $1200. Thank you so much to everybody who has already donated and/ or supported the project these last couple of weeks. If you haven’t had a chance to donate or checkout the project please click on our link and check it out now. HERE. Having a library on-site will help the Abejas (and other garden members) tremendously! Please consider donating to the project- every bit helps and continue to share our link with friends and family- there is only one more week to donate. Thanks!
The colors of summer are still flourishing at Huerta del Valle! With our intensive growth area up and running we are harvesting (almost daily!) baskets of bright green cucumbers, peppers, and green beans, deep purple eggplants, soft purple beans, and vibrant tomatoes in many different colors. If you’d like to get your hands on some of this delicious freshness remember that we do offer garden volunteers a pound of produce for every hour of volunteer work. And if you find yourself short on time- no problem, all of the produce in our intensive growth area is also available for sale to the general public and all proceeds go back to the garden. So come checkout our colorful harvest selection now before the orange, brown, and yellow produce of fall take over in a few weeks.
Just in case you haven’t stopped by the garden in a while you’re in for a nice warm welcome the next time you come around. Our very own garden member and welding extraordinaire, Jeremiah has constructed beautiful metal arches place around the garden to add more of a backyard feel to our surroundings. The arch at the main entrance however came with a special surprise- metal lettering spelling out “Huerta del Valle” across the top to welcome all of our current and future members! We are so fortunate to have Jeremiah as a member of the HdV family and would like to thank him for all his hard work. If you’re in the Ontario area be sure to stop by the garden and check out his beautiful craftsmanship.
