Last month the San Bernardino Food Policy Advisory Council visited Huerta del Valle for their monthly meeting. Members of SBFPAC saw our model of growing local, organic food and asked, “How can we make lasting changes for food policy in San Bernardino County?” We ask the same question at Huerta del Valle: how could we take our model of fresh, healthy food on a larger scale? What would our communities look like if we had community gardens on every city block? HDV’s vision is to see an urban farm or garden within walking distance of every home in the Inland Empire. We hope that through further collaboration with the SBFPAC we can work together towards that vision here in San Bernardino County.
